The National Aquatic Centre provided Dublin with an international swimming venue to FINA standards. The complex includes a 50 metre competition pool, diving pool and an extensive leisure pool.

The competition pool is equipped with booms and floating floors to maximise the use of the pool tank when not being used for competitions.

The diving pool is equipped with many state-of-the-art rides and features, including a "flow rider", lazy river and several flume rides.

The pool water treatment benefits from full ozone primary disinfection. The base heating and power is provided by a central combined heat and power unit to reduce running costs.
